History
AUSTSWIM was formed in 1979 as a result of national and state based aquatics organisations identifying the need to have a national body to oversee the training and accreditation of swimming and water safety teachers.
Since inception over 30 years ago, AUSTSWIM has continued to grow and develop to the changing needs of the aquatic industry and the wider community.
The first AUSTSWIM course was held in Orbost, Victoria in April 1980 with further courses then taking place in other states and territories of Australia.
